    Uses

    Roofing nail guns are used to pound nails into wood and other roofing materials – think of tar, thick paper, blacktop, soundproofing insulation and shingles. These staple devices are typically picked because they make things simpler for a roofer to work – they are not equivalent to a better installation, you still need to know how to install a roofing material. The issue with stapled shingles is that they have a far better risk of missing or falling off the building, as staples are too easy to mount incorrectly. When a roofer carries a staple gun and fastens a shingle, the staples may continue to be pushed at an incorrect angle. Staples are also poorly mounted because it is a little difficult to carry a staple gun fully perpendicular to the shingle. It is much safer for anyone who’s right-handed to target the staples at a left angle close to the forward cut, and the staples on the right side at an angle equivalent to the back cut. If the staples are mounted properly, they work perfectly, but they are very easy to install incorrectly. This issue does not happen with nails, as they have a round flat head; as long as a nail is thrown in a straight shingle, it doesn’t matter how the nail gun is turned. To learn if the roof has been built with staples, you will often see the shape of the staples pressing through the shingle above. Note, too, that the staples in the roofing staple gun are not perpendicular to the shingle. That deployment issue normally occurs with staples.
    Tips for users: if you are a professional roofing repairman, then you should be aware that in some U.S. regions it is forbidden to use roofing staplers for roof installation and insulation. You see, in some regions the roofs require additional layers for coating and galvanizing. Even heavy industrial roofing staplers won’t cope with such a task.

    Benefits

    • Roofing staple guns are quite small and a roofer may easily hold these devices in a pocket;
    • Better balanced than any roofing nailers because the holder for the nails inside the gun is typically bulkier;
    • Affordable for any household though the design is professional;
    • Unlike nail guns, roofing staplers have reduced risks of jamming;
    • The nail placement is done properly, without noticeable marks;
    • Easier reloading with thin staples;

    Final Thoughts

    If you are a fan of hand nailing when it comes to roof repair projects, then you should pick a special roofing staple gun. These instruments are versatile, affordable and easy to use when you need to repair a roof of your house or do some medium roofing tasks as an expert.
